Even thought I make this oatmeal once a week, my family still loves it. I get all of the ingredients from the bulk section of the store making it completely zero waste. Here is the recipe; **If my Metric conversions are off please let me know;)
4 cups water *(960ml)
1/4 tsp fine salt *(1.5g)
2-3 Tbs brown sugar or what ever sweetener you desire *(23g)
1/4 cup juice sweetened cranberries *(30g)
1/8 tsp cinnamon *(.5g)
Put all these in a pot and bring to a boil, then add:
2 cups rolled oats (not the quick cooking style) *(180g or so, basically half the amount of water you use)
Bring back to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Stir more that occasionally for 5 min. Taste to make sure the oats are tender and serve. I top them with;
Sultanas (golden raisins)
sliced almonds
chia seeds
maple toasted coconut flakes
or what ever you like.
My husband and kids add milk and butter, I like it just the way it is.
Enjoy and I hope you like it as much as our family does.
